People reports three teenagers and a taxi driver were killed in a head-on collision on Wigan Road in Bolton, England, on Jan. 11 at around 12:45 a.m.

Greater Manchester Police said the crash involved a red Seat Leon and a Citroen C4 Picasso. Three teenagers, aged 18 and 19, were in the Seat and the taxi driver, described as in his 50s, was in the Citroen. Police confirmed, "The driver of the Seat, and two passengers have tragically died following the collision. The driver of the Citroen was also sadly pronounced dead at the scene," and said five injured passengers have been taken to hospital. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue told Sky News crews attended at about 12:50 a.m., used cutting equipment to remove people from the vehicles and were on scene for roughly two hours.

A scene remains in place as officers continue their investigation and the Serious Collision Investigation Unit has urged anyone with information to come forward. Authorities have not yet formally confirmed the victims' identities; according to local funeral notices reported by the BBC, the teenagers were named Muhammad Danyaal Asghar Ali, Farhan Patel and Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar and the taxi driver named Masrob Ali. Chief Inspector Helen McCormick described the crash as a "devastating incident," per the BBC.
