More details are emerging after a deadly fire broke out at a bar in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana on New Year's Eve, with three teenagers named among the missing.

Charlotte Niddam, who previously attended Immanuel College in Hertfordshire, has been listed as missing; her nationality has not been confirmed.

Sixteen-year-old Arthur Brodard is also missing. CNN reported he joined about 10 friends at Le Constellation on New Year's Eve. His parents, Laetitia and Christophe Brodard of Lausanne, said the group often met in the resort town.

Mr Brodard said: "We are so empty. We think he could still be alive, so we still have hope of finding him." He added: "They ordered a bottle of champagne with a sparkler. One or two minutes later, it was the apocalypse."

Fifteen-year-old Alice Kallergis, from Greece, has also been reported missing. Her brother Romain told protothema.gr: "We still know nothing about my sister."

The family of another young person, Emilie Pralong, has appealed for information after Facebook posts said she has been missing since the fire.

Italian national Emanuele Galeppini, 17, a golf prodigy, was the first victim reported dead, a death confirmed by the Italian Golf Federation.

At least 40 people have been killed and 119 injured in the blaze. Authorities say the severity of burns is complicating identification of the dead and injured and that the process could take weeks.
