Timberborn sets 1.0 release date for March 5, shows 'lore trailer'
Mechanistry has set Timberborn's 1.0 launch for March 5, marking the end of its early access period. The developer announced the date in a Steam post and shared the game's intro cinematic, temporarily calling it a 'lore trailer'.
The trailer follows some beavers crossing a desert and then starting to build a city. It is nicely animated and features gravelly narration by British actor Shaun Dooley.
The 1.0 update focuses on a range of smaller additions across the game, including aquifers, geothermal fields, new environmental hazards, maps, spiral staircases and city banners. Players can already try these features by downloading the game's experimental branch.
Timberborn's move to 1.0 arrives amid a busy year for city-builders, with other upcoming titles letting players build inside giant trains, on the backs of cosmic whales, and in a Pokémon-style world filled with collectible creatures.
