Timeline: Nancy Guthrie's disappearance and investigation
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on Feb. 1 after last being seen the night before, Jan. 31, when she was dropped off at her Catalina Foothills home after dinner with family. Search and rescue teams were deployed by ground and air, and the Pima County Sheriff said homicide detectives were investigating and were not ruling out foul play; the FBI is also involved.
On Feb. 2 the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Nancy’s home was being treated as a crime scene and described the circumstances as suspicious, indicating they believe she did not leave on her own. Reports and photographs showed blood outside the residence and an apparent trail leading away from the home.
The sheriff’s office confirmed on Feb. 3 that DNA evidence collected at the scene had been sent for testing and that detectives were reviewing security camera footage from the home.
