Timothée Chalamet, the Marty Supreme star gunning for a Best Actor Oscar for his role in the Josh Safdie movie, sparked controversy with remarks made during a conversation with Matthew McConaughey at the University of Texas at Austin in February. He quipped that "no one cared" about art forms like ballet and opera and said he had no interest in taking part in such productions.
The comments drew sharp criticism. On The View, Sunny Hostin said, "Ballet is hard ... I'm offended and disappointed in what he said. I didn't realize he was that vapid and that shallow."
