Timothée Chalamet says an extra threatened him during 'Marty Supreme' motel scene
According to People, Timothée Chalamet said during a Q&A with Robert Downey Jr. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at New York’s DGA Theater that while filming the "motel sequence" of Marty Supreme a background actor warned him, "I was just in jail for 30 years. You really don't want to f--k with me. You don't want to see me angry," and Chalamet concluded the story with a nervous laugh, "I said to Josh, Holy shit, who do you have me opposite, man?"
Chalamet, 30, said he had been trying to provoke the man over multiple takes and added, "I won't say who," about the background actor. Director Josh Safdie was on set, and Safdie later revealed, according to Complex, that Robert Pattinson, 39, makes a secret voice-only cameo as the film's commentator/umpire.
Marty Supreme, a ping pong drama that also stars Odessa A'zion, Gwyneth Paltrow and Fran Drescher, has drawn awards attention: Chalamet has already earned a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award for his portrayal of Marty Mauser, and A'zion received a nomination at The Actor Awards. The identity of the extra involved in the motel exchange remains undisclosed.
