Timothée Chalamet’s Marty Supreme Tops Cinderella Man at U.S. Box Office
According to Collider, Timothée Chalamet’s Oscar-contender Marty Supreme has reached $70 million at the domestic box office, surpassing Russell Crowe’s Cinderella Man, which earned a $61 million lifetime domestic haul.
Marty Supreme is now A24’s second-highest-grossing release, trailing only Everything Everywhere All at Once. Produced on a reported $65 million budget, the film sits at a "certified fresh" 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics' consensus reads, "Serving up Timothée Chalamet at his most infectiously charismatic, Marty Supreme is a propulsive epic that realizes its sky-high aspirations even while it critiques its indelible hero's toxic ambition." By contrast, Ron Howard’s Cinderella Man made $108 million globally against a reported nearly $90 million budget and holds an 80% "certified fresh" score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Marty Supreme has not yet been fully rolled out in international markets and is expected to grow in the run-up to the Oscars; the report says it is likely to pass $100 million globally soon and could target Everything Everywhere All at Once's $143 million worldwide total. The film, directed by Josh Safdie, was released December 19, 2025, runs 150 minutes, and is currently playing in theaters; Chalamet is described as a front-runner for an Academy Award after a recent Golden Globe win and a prior nomination for A Complete Unknown.
