Tink: Disney+ Developing Live-Action Tinker Bell Series
Disney has shifted one of its planned live-action Peter Pan spin-offs into a Disney+ series titled Tink. Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter have been hired to develop the project; the pair previously collaborated on Friday Night Lights and earned WGA nominations in 2007 and 2008.
The project was first pitched as a live-action feature in 2015 with Reese Witherspoon attached to star. It moved in 2021 to a Disney+ film, with Witherspoon set as a producer and Maria Melnik tapped to rewrite a screenplay by Victoria Strous; the project’s status was called into question after Yara Shahidi was cast as Tinker Bell in Peter Pan & Wendy (2023), and there has been no word on whether Witherspoon remains attached following the shift to a series.
Tinker Bell originated in J.M. Barrie’s 1904 Peter Pan and became the iconic Disney image introduced in the 1953 animated film, later serving as an unofficial company mascot.
