Todd Howard: 'Just pretend' The Elder Scrolls 6 wasn't announced
In a recent chat with IGN, Todd Howard suggested The Elder Scrolls 6 might as well not exist: "Just pretend we didn't announce it. Doesn't exist. No one's heard a word." He said the studio's 2018 reveal changed how he feels about early announcements and that he prefers to "compress that moment where you hear about a game to when you can play it." "Those would be on top of each other if I had my way every time," he added.
Announcing the next Elder Scrolls, Howard explained, was "really about informing our audience, because when you're going to do something new, everyone's going to ask, 'What about Elder Scrolls 6? What about a singleplayer game?'" He noted, however, that this approach is not his preference.
On timing and staffing he acknowledged Bethesda is "working on a lot of stuff," saying, "I think if you look at the scale of our studio, we could have 10 times the amount of people to do all this.
