An AI-generated video of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt fighting went viral last week and reignited industry concerns about how the technology could affect filmmaking. Deadpool writer Rhett Reese said he was "shook" by the scene and declared "it's likely over" for traditional filmmakers.

The clip appeared on X/Twitter via Irish filmmaker Ruairi Robinson, who said it was produced by entering a "two-line prompt" into ByteDance's newly launched Seedance 2.0. Robinson's post has more than 1.8 million views since Feb. 11 and drew mixed reactions, with some calling it "AI slop" while others warned the tools could disrupt studio workflows.

Digital creator Aron Peterson, known as Shokunin Studio, challenged the clip's authenticity in a blog post titled "Is it all over for filmmakers?" He found green-screen footage on Seedance's website of stuntmen performing the same rooftop choreography and argued the viral scene used a video-to-video workflow that swapped the stuntmen's faces for Cruise and Pitt rather than generating the sequence from scratch.
