TON Pay Turns Telegram Mini Apps into Crypto Checkout Layer
The Open Network Foundation has launched TON Pay, an SDK designed to make cryptocurrencies usable for everyday consumer transactions inside Telegram. The wallet-agnostic payment layer lets merchants and Mini App developers accept crypto directly through the messaging app.
TON Pay provides a single software kit that integrates with Telegram Mini Apps and removes much of the friction around wallet infrastructure, settlement and checkout flows. It supports various wallets and tokens, including Toncoin (TON) and Tether’s USDt (USDT).
The system targets sub-second transaction times and average fees below one cent, with the stated aim of powering transactions for Telegram’s global audience of over 1.1 billion monthly active users. Embedding payments into the app is intended to reduce barriers to crypto adoption such as multi-step checkouts and pre-paying gas fees.
