Tottenham keeper Kinsky replaced after two early errors
Two remarkable developments unfolded for Tottenham Hotspur during the Champions League round-of-16 first leg at Atlético Madrid. After just 22 minutes Spurs trailed 4-0, the second-fastest 4-0 lead in the competition’s history, only beaten by Real Madrid’s 20-minute start against Dinamo Zagreb; the visitors conceded four goals within 16 minutes.
With the score already 0-3, manager Igor Tudor, who had lost all three of his matches in charge, replaced 22-year-old Antonin Kinsky with Guglielmo Vicario. Vicario is Tottenham’s regular goalkeeper but had surprisingly started the game on the bench. Kinsky’s early exit followed two costly errors: he slipped with the ball at his feet as Marcos Llorente opened the scoring in the sixth minute, then failed to control a harmless back pass that Julian Alvarez converted to make it 3-0 (15').
