Tottenham lodge written complaint with PGMOL over inconsistent refereeing
Tottenham have sent a formal written complaint to Professional Game Match Officials Limited chief Howard Webb, saying a series of inconsistent decisions over contact in the penalty area is harming the club. The approach comes as interim manager Igor Tudor navigates a difficult run of results.
The club’s concerns focus on contrasting calls in successive fixtures. In the 4-1 home defeat to Arsenal, Randal Kolo Muani had a potential equaliser ruled out after referee Peter Bankes said the two hands on the back had enough impact and was an offence. A few days later at Fulham, Harry Wilson’s opening goal stood despite Raul Jimenez appearing to shove Radu Dragusin.
Tottenham compiled comparisons from other Premier League matches, citing Nick Woltemade’s goal for Newcastle against Arsenal as an example of similar contact being judged differently.
