Trailer Reveals 'The School Duel' Starring Oscar Nuñez
Altered Innocence has released the official trailer for The School Duel, which is set to hit theaters on Apr. 24. The clip spotlights Oscar Nuñez as the governor of a near-future Florida who establishes a shockingly brutal solution to school shootings: a state-wide, televised fight-to-the-death competition.
The story follows 13-year-old Sammy, who secretly signs up for "The School Duel" despite his mother’s objections. The trailer does not shy away from violent imagery, showing children taking part in a bullet-ridden contest for survival. Alongside Nuñez, the cast includes Kue Kellyn Lawrence, Christina Brucato, Clayton Royal Johnson, Eugenie Bondurant, Thomas Philip O’Neill, Jim Kaplan, Kelsey Darragh, and Jamad Mays.
The film was written and directed by Todd Wiseman Jr., who makes his feature-length directorial debut and filmed the project in his hometown of Tampa. The School Duel holds an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 13 reviews. Jennie Kermode of Eye for Film says Wiseman Jr.
