I like the trash Pokémon. Not the dippy grinning ice cream cone or the Bread Dog. I mean the actual trash Pokémon, the ones made of sludge and refuse and municipal negligence. They include Grimer, Muk, Trubbish, Garbodor, Koffing and Weezing. A look at their Pokedex entries shows how different they are: Trubbish in Pokémon White is born from a chemical reaction between garbage bags and industrial waste; Grimer in Pokémon Yellow is made of hardened sludge that smells too putrid to touch and leaves nothing growing in its path; and Koffing, per the Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Pokedex, embodies toxic substances and mixes toxins with raw garbage to produce a powerful poison gas that grows stronger with heat.

They're what happen when natural forces mix with human-made elements, usually bad elements, and then, with a wave of some magic Pokémon wand, life is born. Eat your heart out, Victor Frankenstein. And there's nothing else like them in all of Pokémon — not in the first generation, not in Scarlet and Violet.
