Travis Kelce explains decision to return for 14th NFL season
Travis Kelce confirmed he’s 'doing it again' and will return to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 14th season on New Heights. His brother Jason opened the conversation by announcing '87 is coming back,' and Kelce said he knew 'about midway through [my 13th] season.' He said he didn’t want to end his career without making the playoffs or having 'one of the best years,' and that he followed Jason’s advice to 'take a step back' and let emotions clear.
Kelce acknowledged he had made decisions based on emotion in the past, weighed his desires and how his body felt, and that 'it still felt like I was hungry enough to get back at it.' He added, 'I f--king hated how that s--t ended last year, I wanna make it right.
Get another chance and get another Super Bowl.' Kelce pushed back on the idea that his return was driven solely by roster moves — including the signing of Kenneth Walker and the expected return of Patrick Mahomes — saying those factors added to the emotion but that his body, mental determination, focus and love for the game remained.
