'Tremendous' Opportunity Brings Russia Back Into U.S. Energy Talks
Since President Trump took office more than a year ago he has described a “tremendous opportunity” for deals with Russia if the war ends, and the Kremlin has been dangling possible investments. Now a Texas investor, Gentry Beach, says he quietly signed an agreement last fall with one of Russia’s biggest energy companies, Novatek, to develop natural gas in Alaska.
Beach insisted the deal was motivated by business rather than politics; Novatek said it was “indeed having negotiations on the potential use” of its technology to liquefy gas in remote northern Alaska but did not confirm working with him. The arrangement highlights how Mr.
