Trump's Davos trip delayed after Air Force One returns to Andrews
Businessinsider reports President Donald Trump's flight to Davos was delayed Tuesday night after Air Force One turned back to Joint Base Andrews because of a "minor electrical issue," per a White House pool report.
Flight-tracking data showed the plane turning around over the waters off Long Island and heading back toward Washington, D.C. The pool update, citing White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, quoted: "After takeoff, the crew on AF1 identified 'a minor electrical issue' and, out of an abundance of caution, we are turning around, landing at Joint Base Andrews and boarding new aircraft." The update added the incident would delay Trump's arrival in Zurich and said the president will take a backup plane to the World Economic Forum.
At Davos, the report noted, Trump's threats to take over Greenland have been a major talking point: he has repeatedly said he wants to buy the semi-autonomous territory governed by Denmark and is not opposed to using military force. The article says Trump told reporters he has "a lot of meetings scheduled on Greenland" and "I think things are going to work out pretty well," and that he said on Saturday he would impose an additional 10% tariff on several European countries if they do not strike a deal to hand over Greenland. This is a developing story.
