Trump and First Lady to Attend Premiere of ‘Melania’ at Kennedy Center
The president, the first lady and top members of the Trump administration are attending the premiere of "Melania," a new documentary executive produced by the first lady, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, the Times reported.
The premiere is being held inside the arts institution that the president and his friends have just renamed after himself, the report said.
Amazon paid Mrs. Trump’s production company $40 million for the film and then paid another $35 million to promote it, the Times reported, calling the sum extraordinary; other big documentaries might get one tenth that marketing budget. The halls of the Kennedy Center were described as decked out in "MELANIA" décor, with massive banners bearing her name and a long red carpet.
Senior White House staffers, cabinet members and Republican lawmakers turned up for the premiere, the report said, which comes as the administration finds itself embroiled in chaos over the bloodshed in Minneapolis and amid concerns about a growing affordability crisis that have been denting the president's poll numbers.
The Times said the premiere was taking place this evening and that Amazon’s promotional push was clearly being put to use at the venue.
