Trump Would Have Slim Chance in Court Against Trevor Noah, Experts Say
President Trump said on social media that he would sue comedian Trevor Noah after Mr. Noah joked while hosting the Grammys that Mr. Trump’s pursuit of Greenland made sense “because Epstein’s island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.” Mr.
Trump called Mr. Noah a “poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C.” There is no evidence that Mr. Trump visited Mr. Epstein’s private island. Legal experts said the comment is likely protected by the First Amendment and that a lawsuit would have little chance of succeeding.
Jameel Jaffer of the Knight First Amendment Institute said “Trevor Noah is pretty clearly protected by the First Amendment,” and cited the Supreme Court’s Hustler Magazine v.
