TrumpRx, the President’s Online Drugstore, Opens for Business
Nytimes reports that President Trump announced the launch of a government website, TrumpRx.gov, which does not sell medications but serves as an entry point for consumers to search for drugs and be directed to manufacturers’ websites or pharmacies. The site was unveiled at an event at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, and administrators promoted it as a way for Americans to obtain lower prices.
The TrumpRx list includes 43 medicines, among them insulin, inhalers, the weight-loss drugs Wegovy and Zepbound, and a copycat version of Humira; posted prices vary widely, from $6 for a month’s supply of Cytomel to more than $5,500 for a high dose of Ngenla. The Times reports that many of the drugs are already widely covered by insurance, and experts warned that consumers who use TrumpRx without checking insurance could end up paying more; the site itself advises users to check co-pays and a 2024 CDC survey found about 85 percent of Americans have drug coverage.
