TrumpRx: What to Know About Insurance Benefits, Pricing and Savings
The new government website TrumpRx.gov offers Americans another way to find prescription prices, but it does not sell drugs directly. The site lists 43 medications with prices ranging from $3 to more than $5,500 and links users to drugmakers or pharmacies to complete purchases.
Each product page notes that people with insurance should check their copay first, because coverage may be cheaper. TrumpRx’s prices are aimed mainly at people without insurance or those whose coverage does not include particular drugs, such as many obesity and fertility treatments.
Most insured patients, including many on Medicaid, will typically pay less through their plans; for example, a $25 monthly copay for Farxiga would be far lower than the TrumpRx price of $182. “In the vast majority of cases, it’ll be cheaper to go through your insurance,” said Ameet Sarpatwari.
