Tuchel to split 35-man England squad across two match camps
Thomas Tuchel said he named a 35-man England squad so he could split the group into two separate camps for the friendlies against Uruguay and Japan as he prepares his final assessment ahead of the World Cup, where he must trim the group to 25. England face Uruguay at Wembley on March 27 before taking on Japan four days later, with both fixtures offering the last chance for fringe players to stake a claim.
"That sounds a lot. Actually, it is 19 outfield players and four goalkeepers from Tuesday to Saturday and then I think it's 22 outfield players and three or four goalkeepers in the second match, so nobody needs to sit in the stands in either of the matches," he explained.
