Turning Point USA’s Halftime Show Pays Tribute to Charlie Kirk — NYT > Arts

Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show,” a streamed concert pitched as a conservative alternative to Bad Bunny’s main event at the Super Bowl, doubled as a tribute to the group’s late founder, Charlie Kirk. Kid Rock headlined the event and had said the performers planned "to play great songs for folks who love America." Bad Bunny, a singer and rapper from Puerto Rico who largely performs in Spanish, has been an outspoken critic of the Trump administration; President Trump had called his selection "a terrible choice." The concert was broadcast from an apparent soundstage where a small crowd cheered as four country performers each played a couple of songs.

It began with a brief spoken introduction that closed, "This one’s for you, Charlie," followed by an electric-guitar rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner." Viewers on Turning Point USA’s YouTube channel numbered more than two million at that moment and peaked around six million; the show was also available on platforms including Daily Wire+ and One America News Network.
