On February 19, about 500 staff at Ubisoft’s Montpellier studio were evacuated after a bomb threat email was sent to the local police. The message claimed there was an explosive device at the studio where developers have been working on Beyond Good and Evil 2 and a new Rayman game.

Dozens of police officers responded, established a perimeter around the building and searched for anything suspicious but found nothing. Authorities later confirmed there was no credible threat; the company evacuated the building as a precaution, all employees are safe, and operations are resuming.

The incident comes amid ongoing tensions inside the company, with staff frustrated by cuts and a new return-to-office policy, and the studio repeatedly targeted by vitriolic online rants from some individuals, including shareholders, over culture war grievances.
