Ubisoft and Valve help community port Dark Messiah to modern Source engine
A modding team is porting Arkane’s Dark Messiah of Might & Magic to the latest version of Valve’s Source engine with support from both Valve and Ubisoft. Arkane originally released the game in 2006; it became known for combining stealth, magic and brutally physical melee combat.
David Wiltos announced on ModDB that, with Ubisoft’s approval and Valve’s support, his team is working on a community edition of Dark Messiah. He says he visited Ubisoft Montreal to get help with the Advanced SDK, got elements of the console version running on PC, and has seemingly secured “direct code access” for the game.
The group, calling itself wiltOS Technologies, previously reverse-engineered an Advanced SDK to make modding easier and now plans to port that work into the Source SDK while keeping existing mods compatible. The project is recruiting volunteers, and recent updates have already added an RTX mod, a co-op mode, and new elements such as Runes.
