Uniswap founder warns of scam ads after user says they 'lost everything'
Uniswap founder Hayden Adams warned users about fraudulent ads impersonating the platform after a victim reportedly 'lost everything.' Adams wrote on X that 'Scam ads keep returning despite years of reporting,' and noted there were scam Uniswap apps while the team waited months for App Store approval.
Scammers have been buying ads on popular search engines targeting keywords such as 'Uniswap,' making the top result appear official. Unsuspecting users may connect their wallets and approve a transaction, allowing attackers to drain funds. An X user named 'Ika' described how his mid-six-figure wallet was emptied despite being careful, writing, 'Disciplined for two years.
Half-searching for a web3 job, half-hoping to make it fast enough not to need one,' and, 'I believe that getting drained isn't bad luck. It's the final consequence of a long chain of bad decisions.' He also posted a screenshot of a top Google search result with an inauthentic Uniswap link.
