A 2002 GameCube classic, Animal Crossing, can now run natively on PC thanks to the work of modders and fan developers. You’ll need to jump through a few hoops to get this unofficial port running, but the end result recreates the original cozy experience on modern hardware.

Github user FlyingMeta has released a mostly stable PC port of the GameCube game that lets anyone with an original copy or ROM play the full game at higher resolution, with mod support and the option to use a keyboard or controller. The port also supports the pre-existing HD texture pack created by fans for the Dolphin emulator.

The creator says a few issues remain—some audio problems, occasional memory errors, and a handful of texture bugs—but these are expected to be addressed in future updates and nothing major is blocking play. The port contains no game files, so you must provide your own ROM or copy of the game.
