Unplugging your TV saves little power - disabling standby is better
Unplugging a TV overnight or while on vacation does save some electricity, but modern sets are far more efficient than older models. Televisions now use LED technology to lower operating costs, and standby modes and LED indicators typically draw very little power.
You can still take control of a TV’s power behavior by disabling standby modes and turning off indicator lights on many models. Amazon-branded Fire TV models such as the Omni or 4-Series are an exception: they do not include a user option to disable standby mode or the bright LED indicator, and the only workaround involves complicated debugging software.
