Time reports Team USA is sending one of its strongest figure skating squads ever to Milano Cortina. The U.S. Olympic Trials doubled as the national championships in St. Louis, with three Olympic spots available in the women’s, men’s and ice dance events and two spots in pairs, and Team USA will be one of 10 countries in the opening team event.

The U.S. earned maximum entries in women, men and ice dance based on last year’s world championships: Alysa Liu is the reigning women’s world champion and teammates Isabeau Levito and Amber Glenn finished fourth and fifth; Ilia Malinin is the men’s world champion and Jason Brown finished eighth; Madison Chock and Evan Bates are the ice dance world champions and U.S.

teammates placed fifth and ninth. U.S. pairs finished sixth and seventh at worlds, which secured two Olympic pairs spots. The women’s Olympic trio includes Amber Glenn, Alysa Liu and Isabeau Levito. Glenn won her third straight U.S. title and returns to the Olympics after addressing anxiety and depression and working on the triple Axel; Liu returned to competition in 2024 after retiring following the 2022 Games and has been training the triple Axel regularly according to a coach; Levito, 18, will make her Olympic debut with family from Milan planning to attend.
