Valve’s Steam Machine May Miss 2026 Ship Date as Memory Shortages Persist
Valve’s Steam Machine, the company’s PC-oriented answer for the living room, might not ship in 2026 after its pre-order announcement was delayed earlier this year. The timeline has grown more uncertain as an AI hyperscaling race has led to RAM component shortages.
Update 3/6/2026, 8:43 p.m. ET: Valve has removed the part of its blog post that said it only “hoped” to ship the Steam Machine in 2026. The post now reads, “Here’s the lineup of hardware we announced in 2025.” It adds, “We shared recently that there have been challenges with memory and storage shortages, but we will be shipping all three products this year.
More updates will be shared as we finalize our plans.” Announced last fall, Valve had planned to reveal pricing and pre-order timelines in early 2026, but that plan quickly unraveled.
