VanEck CEO Jan van Eck said Bitcoin appears to be forming a market bottom, linking the recent weakness to the cryptocurrency’s hard-coded 21 million supply and the four-year halving cycle. Speaking on CNBC’s Power Lunch, he described a pattern of three years up followed by a sharp fourth-year decline and said 2026 fits that fourth-year profile.

Research from Kaiko echoes the view that current price moves follow historical cycles. The firm noted the post-peak drop from about $126,000 into the $60,000–$70,000 range matches past corrections and sits within the typical 12–18 month window for cycle peaks after a halving, while historical bear markets have taken 6–12 months to find sustainable bottoms, often after several failed rallies.

Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan also cited the four-year cycle as one factor behind holders reducing exposure and suggested Bitcoin is in the process of bottoming.
