Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, said on social media that she is pregnant with their fourth child, a boy expected in late July. It is the first known time in modern U.S. history that a sitting second lady is expecting a baby while her husband is in office. In a joint statement the Vances, Mr.

Vance, 41, and Ms. Vance, 40, wrote, "We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy," and added, "Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July." They thanked their staff and the military doctors who have taken care of them.

The couple met at Yale Law School in 2010, were married in Kentucky in 2014, and have three children: two sons, Ewan and Vivek, and a daughter, Mirabel. Ms. Vance has been described by colleagues as a model of the pro-family movement championed by her husband; she said at the Republican National Convention in 2024 that his "one overriding ambition" was "to become a husband and a father and to build the kind of tight-knit family that he had longed for as a child." Mr.

Vance has explicitly endorsed "more babies in the United States of America," as he said at last year’s Right to Life March.
