A verified video shows ballistic missiles being launched from Bahrain toward Iran, appearing to be the first confirmed attack on the Islamic Republic to originate from a Persian Gulf country since the war began. Posted on March 7 and filmed near a residential area and an airport in northern Bahrain, the footage shows two missiles rising and leaving white smoke trails as they head northeast over the sea.

The first launcher is obscured by a building, but analysts who reviewed the clips identified a second launcher as a U.S.-made M142 HIMARS. The video does not show whether the U.S. or Bahraini military fired the missiles. Bahrain said its military "has not participated in any offensive operations" and reserves the right to respond, while the kingdom has not publicly confirmed whether it would allow U.S.

strikes from its territory. A Pentagon spokeswoman declined to comment. The U.S.
