Vince Gilligan offers update on Pluribus season 2

Vince Gilligan has warned fans the second season of Pluribus may be a long time coming. Apple picked up the science fiction series for a two-season deal, but Gilligan and his writers did not begin work on season 2 until after the season 1 finale aired in December 2025, and he has said we should not expect the show to return until 2027 at the earliest.

When asked during a conversation about the 25th anniversary of his X-Files spin-off The Lone Gunmen — and while taking a break from the writing process — Gilligan offered an update. "I can tell you you're catching me here in our offices," he said. "We're plugging away on it.

I'm taking a little bit longer lunch break than usual to talk to you, which I'm enjoying doing. We are breaking the season. It is not going quite as fast as I would hope, but we're hoping there's lots more excitement and twists and turns.
