Viral AI Fight Between Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt Likely Relied on Stunt Footage
Filmmaker Ruairí Robinson posted on X that a viral clip of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt fighting was created with "a 2 line prompt in seedance 2." The video stood out because it appeared well-choreographed, competently shot, and properly lit—qualities many AI video tools have struggled to replicate.
Writer and developer Aron Peterson, who has worked in film production and visual effects, raised doubts. He pointed out that AI generators are typically poor at simulating realistic camera moves, yet the clip showed clear camera movement; on Seedance’s website he found green-screen footage of two stuntmen performing the same choreography and shared a comparison on YouTube.
Peterson argued the evidence suggests the scene was assembled from filmed stunt footage—shot from multiple angles, converted into clips, and stitched together—onto which faces and backgrounds were replaced, rather than being produced from a simple two-line prompt.
