Viral Man Utd fan Frank Ilett reveals plan to stay relevant after haircut stunt
Manchester United fan Frank Ilett, known online as 'The United Strand', has refused to cut his hair since October 2024 until the club wins five consecutive matches. The hair reached extraordinary lengths after he pledged not to visit a barber, and a four-game winning run under interim manager Michael Carrick was ended by a stalemate against West Ham.
With only nine games left in the campaign, Ilett says he's preparing for the day his signature look disappears. He appears in a satirical advert for Paddy Power, joining a seminar on "how to diversify viral momentum" alongside internet figures including the Wealdstone Raider and Guy Goma.
The sketch mocks the fleeting nature of meme culture as the group discusses how to maintain fame once an original "gimmick" fades, and Ilett warns: "When Man United get those five wins in a row, that's curtains for me. I need to stay relevant and diversify my brand, and to do that, I'm going to need help." He adds: "The class isn't really what I was expecting, to be honest.
