Ethereum co‑founder Vitalik Buterin accelerated ETH sales in February 2026, offloading more than 8,800 ETH as exchange inflows to Binance climbed to their highest level since November 2025. The activity coincides with a broader downtrend in ETH and growing concerns about short‑term price pressure.

Buterin’s sales began in early February and align with his disclosed plan to allocate 16,384 ETH toward long‑term initiatives. “I have just withdrawn 16,384 ETH, which will be deployed toward these goals over the next few years. I am also exploring secure decentralized staking options that will allow even more capital from staking rewards to be put toward these goals in the long term,” he wrote on X.

In February alone he sold over 8,800 ETH, roughly $18.45 million; Lookonchain reported 6,958 ETH ($14.78 million) sold early in the month as ETH fell from $2,360 to $1,825, and a further 1,869 ETH ($3.67 million) sold more recently while ETH slipped from $1,988 to $1,875.
