Vitor Pereira: 'We have the quality' as Forest reach Europa League quarters
Nottingham Forest reached the Europa League quarter-finals after a tense penalty shoot-out in Denmark, beating Midtjylland 3-0 from the spot. Midtjylland struck the post twice through Cho Gue-sung and Aral Simsir and Edward Chilufya missed the target, while Morgan Gibbs-White, Ibrahim Sangare and Neco Williams converted to seal passage.
With a crucial Premier League meeting against Tottenham looming, Pereira made nine changes to his starting line-up and said the substitutions were designed to manage fitness during a congested schedule. "We are very happy and we proved we came here to compete. We have good players, talented players," he said, adding that the changes were intended to "balance the energy" and be ready for Sunday.
The win was Forest’s first since the play-off success against Fenerbahce that coincided with Pereira’s appointment, and he said the psychological boost will help the club in both competitions. "When we win it is different.
