'War Machine' Ending Explained
Alan Ritchson stars in Netflix's War Machine, co-written and directed by Patrick Hughes. The film follows elite recruits in an Army Ranger training program who are plunged into a life-or-death fight when an alien robot crashes to Earth. Ritchson's character, identified only as 81, joins RASP after his brother is killed when their convoy is attacked.
The recruits are outgunned during a final training mission and suffer heavy losses. 81 and Stephan James' 7 are the only survivors when they find an armored vehicle with a heavy machine gun turret. Remembering a clogged exhaust from the opening scene, 81 lures the robot to a nearby construction site, pins it with a front-end loader and uses a conveyor belt to pour debris into its exhaust ports, though grenades in the wreckage force a last-minute escape.
Back at base, it becomes clear that the machine 81 destroyed was only one of possibly hundreds.
