Werner Herzog improvised his 'Parks and Recreation' cameo
Werner Herzog made a cameo in the 2015 season-seven premiere of Parks and Recreation, "2017," playing Keg Jeggings, a man selling his eccentric house.
The home in the episode reportedly includes three bomb shelters, a fireman's pole, and a staircase to nowhere. Jeggings tells April and Andy it was once a holding cell for people who went insane working at the Pawnee Doll Head Factory and that it's haunted; the couple decide to buy it and celebrate by making out on a table in front of him.
Herzog said he liked the cameo because the creators were open to his spontaneous input, though he admitted he's never seen the show. After shooting he asked to add a line and speak directly to camera: "I've lived in this home for 47 years, but I'm selling it now because I want to move to Orlando, Florida, to be close to Disney World."
He called the ad lib a major hit — "People peed their pants." His latest documentary, Ghost Elephants, is now streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
