West Ham miss chance to boost survival hopes with wasteful draw against Bournemouth

West Ham missed an opportunity to improve their survival prospects after a frustrating draw with Bournemouth. A win would have raised the possibility of Nuno Espírito Santo’s side finishing the weekend out of the relegation zone for the first time since early December.

The hosts largely dominated but were undone by profligacy in front of goal and a couple of smart saves from Djordje Petrovic. An expected-goals total of 2.87 from 20 shots produced a blank in the only column that matters; Axel Disasi had a header saved and turned the rebound over the bar inside the opening minute, and Crysencio Summerville, who has scored six times in his last seven appearances, threatened repeatedly without finding a finish.
