West Ham see off Brentford on penalties to set up Leeds quarter

West Ham set up an FA Cup quarter-final against Leeds after a penalty shootout against Brentford, the third tie in a row in which the conventional 90 minutes proved insufficient. Two goals apiece from Jarrod Bowen and Igor Thiago cancelled each other out, and extra time failed to produce a winner.

The shootout was decided in part by Dango Ouattara’s woeful spot-kick, an embarrassingly weak Panenka that looped into Alphonse Areola’s hands.
