'What Happens at Night': Cast, Plot, and Everything We Know So Far

Martin Scorsese is directing What Happens at Night, adapted from Peter Cameron's 2020 novel with a screenplay by Patrick Marber. Principal photography commenced on Feb. 24 in Prague and is expected to continue into late spring/early summer before moving to New York City.

The cast assembled so far is led by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, and also includes Patricia Clarkson, Jared Harris and Mads Mikkelsen. DiCaprio and Lawrence play the unnamed American married couple; Mikkelsen is confirmed as Brother Emmanuel, while Clarkson and Harris are widely inferred to be the flamboyant chanteuse and the debauched businessman from the book.

The story follows an unnamed American couple who travel to a strange, snowy European city to adopt a baby and check into the cavernous Borgarfjaroasysla Grand Imperial Hotel, where an eerie array of characters complicates their marriage as the wife struggles with cancer.
