Nbc notes there is no debate about who is the greatest professional alpine skier of all time: Team USA's Mikaela Shiffrin, who has won more World Cup ski races than any other person. With the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics underway on NBC and Peacock, she is one of the biggest names at the Games.

Shiffrin was born March 13, 1995, in Vail, Colorado, and still lives in nearby Edwards. She comes from a family of competitive ski racers, began skiing at age three, trained at Burke Mountain Academy, and as a 15-year-old won the U.S. national slalom title as the youngest American to ever win a national Alpine title.

Now in her 15th season on the World Cup tour, Shiffrin, 30, won her record 108th race in Spindleruv Mlyn, Czech Republic just prior to the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
