What's at Stake for Crypto as Three US States Kick off Party Primaries?
Voters in North Carolina, Texas and Arkansas open primary season this week, choosing some of the first candidates for the 2026 midterm elections. Those early contests could shape the balance of power in Congress and influence the direction of crypto legislation.
In Texas, Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett is running for the US Senate seat held by Republican John Cornyn. Crockett, a member of the House since 2023, voted for the GENIUS Act and for FIT21, the earlier version of a digital asset market structure bill, while she voted against the CLARITY Act.
Her 2022 House campaign drew roughly $1 million in support from the PAC Protect Our Future, whose backers included Sam Bankman-Fried, and a further $1 million from Web3 Forward; Crockett said in January she had not accepted "any corporate PAC money" for her 2026 Senate campaign.
