When is ranked mode coming to Marathon?

Ranked mode is coming to Marathon soon, but it won’t be available at launch. While the first season offers plenty of content, some features are time-gated, including ranked mode and Cryo Archive, the fourth zone and endgame area. At the time of writing, ranked mode is expected during the “second half of March.” Marathon launched on Thursday, March 5, so an update may fall on a Thursday; the likeliest dates are March 19 or March 26, and a 1 p.m.

EST release is probable, since the game and the Server Slam launched at that time. Expect ranked to be a more unforgiving, hardcore environment than the base game. There will be various ranked ladders, and the more valuable the loot you exfil with, the faster you’ll climb.

Whether getting kills influences rank remains unconfirmed. Bungie has said ranked mode will offer exclusive rewards each season. A recent leak claims players must meet or exceed a “gear ante” to play, purchase a holotag that sets a specific score target, and only runs that beat that target will count toward progress.
