Where to find witches and use abyss gears in Crimson Desert

Witches are one of the factions in Crimson Desert and important for upgrading your character. They understand the mysteries of the abyss and can manipulate powerful items called abyss gears, which let you customize abilities beyond standard crafting and skill upgrades.

Witches can be hard to locate, so you’ll need to follow specific quests to meet them. The first witch appears through the faction quest “The Hermit Witch.” After completing “A Woman in White” in Chapter 1 and gaining Flight, a white crow will eventually deliver a letter from the White Crow that starts a mission to a hidden cave northwest of Hernand.

Follow the road north of Hernand, head northwest before the river, hug the rock walls to find the narrow opening into Shadow’s Whisper Cave, and speak with the Hermit Witch, Sylvia. Before you leave, pick up the palmar pill recipe inside and interact with the abyss nexus outside to unlock a fast-travel point.
