Where to go first in Crimson Desert

Where to go first in Crimson Desert — Polygon

Crimson Desert can feel overwhelming at the start: you can see locations across Pywel and travel to any of them, but being able to go somewhere doesn’t always mean you should. The game hands out useful skills, inventory upgrades, and better equipment as you progress through the main story, so it often pays to hold off on wide exploration until you’ve completed a few chapters.

In the early chapters the main story grants inventory expansions—each one adds three extra slots—and storage is otherwise very limited, so expanding your carry space is a priority. Sticking with the main quest through Chapter 3 also teaches most of the essential systems, provides abyss artifacts to level up skills, and unlocks traversal tools like Flight and Axiom Hand, which make crossing Pywel far easier.

Your starting stamina is low, and several upgraded traversal skills won’t work until you invest abyss artifacts to raise it. Boost stamina to at least level 4 so you can slingshot and glide reliably; otherwise Flight and Axiom Hand will be harder to use.
