After a joint appearance with President Trump this week, the rapper Nicki Minaj posted an image of a Trump “gold card” — an expedited-visa card associated with a $1 million residency option — but the White House said the card she received was a memento rather than a visa document.

Ms. Minaj posted the image alongside messages including “Gold Trump card free of charge” and “Finalizing that citizenship paperwork as we speak,” and had earlier called herself Mr. Trump’s “No. 1 fan.” Her post included an image of the card and a picture of the horror-film character Chucky giving the middle finger.

A White House official, speaking anonymously, said the gold card was a memento. A Homeland Security Department official, also speaking anonymously, said Ms. Minaj has been a legal permanent resident for roughly two decades and therefore already appears eligible to petition for citizenship.

The article says the card would probably serve little value to her given that status. The gold card officially debuted last month and, according to the report, is available for a nonrefundable $15,000 processing fee; after vetting by Homeland Security, applicants then pay $1 million to obtain U.S.
